Today as reported by Lahore News, The Punjab Investment Board meeting was held under the supervision of Mian Aslam Iqbal. The main agenda was the implementation of Zig-Zag Technology on the Kiln working in the province. This will greatly improve the environmental impact that Kilns used to have on the air pollution in Punjab. In recent years SMOG has been a big issue for the residence of Punjab, especially in Lahore. The main point to observe will be the impact on the prices of the Bricks after the implementation of the technology. Most Kiln owners will forward the cost to the consumers.
The government should also make sure the labor laws of the personnel working in the Kiln are also checked as Kiln Owners are one of the major offenders of labor rights in Punjab and the health, wages, rights, and working hours are often neglected by the owners.
This step must be appreciated by the government is taking environmental impact seriously and focus on upgrading the Kiln to the latest technology for a lesser carbon footprint.
